Boston Female Undertakes Mt. Aconcagua Charity Climb for Rape Crisis Center

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Dec 6, 2012) - If you''re looking for inspiration for your upcoming New Year''s resolution, look to young Boston fitness entrepreneur, Devon Dopfel, who sets out on January 12, 2013 on her Expedition Empowerment, a charity climb up the highest mountain in the Americas, Mount Aconcagua (6,960.8 m; 22,837 ft), to raise money for a cause - that is, $5,000 for the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center (BARCC).

A survivor of college date rape, Dopfel wants to give back to the organization that helped her during a critical time of recovery. "It was a confusing time for me and I had a lot of healing to do," shares Dopfel.

The Boston Area Rape Crisis Centre is one of the key reasons Devon is now in fitness tackling big objectives. She says that, "The bigger the goal or obstacle, the more I learn about myself and grow."

Having overcome her own mountain, Dopfel is climbing Mount Aconcagua for another reason: to help empower others to overcome their own ''Everest''. "Everyone has their own path to overcoming ''their mountain'' - I''m happy to be a resource to anyone because it can be very lonely along the way to recovery."

Dopfel says that her path involved a lot of hard work and physical activity - investing in herself is how she found her strength.
